Mpulungu bye-election date set

The parliamentary bye-election in Mpulungu constituency in Northern province will take place on October 28, 2010.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says on the same date, four local government bye-elections in various parts of the country will take place.
The Mpulungu seat fell vacant when MMD MP Lameck Chibombamilimo died.
Two other parliamentary bye-elections will be held this year following the expulsion of MPs Ngandu Magande and George Mpompo from the MMD.
In the last six parliamentary bye-elections, the ruling MMD has only won one in the home region of president Rupiah Banda. The ruling party has lost the bye-elections in Northern, Northwestern and Western provinces.
