Mtesa says increased number of deputy ministers overrides purpose of reduced cabinet

Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) leader Fred Mutesa has observed that the number of the deputy ministers in the PF government has continued to grow with some ministries having two deputies.

Mutesa says the increase in the number of deputy ministers overrides the purpose of having a reduced number of cabinet ministers.

The opposition leader notes that the increase in the number of deputy ministers will result in the inflated cost of running government.

Mutesa notes that the PF government should always be reminded that it promised to reduce the size of government and therefore should strive to keep its promise.

President Sata last week appointed former Kitwe mayor Lackson Kazabu as one of the deputy ministers of agriculture.
