MMD Chipata Central candidate Reuben Mtolo Phiri says despite intimidation and harassment by PF cadres, he will reclaim the parliamentary seat.
‘We are just waiting for the voting day so that we can get back what belongs to us. I know I am winning this time by a larger margin despite the violence and intimidation by the PF,” he said.
Mr Phiri revealed that the PF has been destroying the MMD’s campaign materials like posters and flags while police look on.
“It is like there is nothing that the police can do because the other day some rowdy and drunken PF cadres were pushing around a police officer right at the reception inside the police station and the officer had to fire a gun right at the door. That is how unruly and openly the PF cadres can boast,” he said.
He said he has personally reported to the police acts of violence, destruction of campaign materials, and intimidation allegedly perpetrated by the PF and is just waiting for the police to take action.
And Mr Phiri says he is not worried by the new method of intimidating MPs through the Anti-corruption Commission.
On Friday the ACC announced that it had decided to study electoral disputes in Chipata Central, Mulobezi, Kapiri Mposhi, Lukulu West and Malambo constituencies, to establish whether electoral corruption existed.
The list above is for MPs whose seats were nullified but refused to join the PF.
