Mulobezi residents have complained over the poor transport and road network in the constituency.
And the residents have wondered where the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) have been going in the close to three years that Mulobezi had no member of parliament after the PF petitioned the election of UPND’s Hastings Sililo.
Some residents spoken to on condition of anonymity complained that the constituency has no tarred roads.
‘It takes us 12 hours to drive from Livingstone to Mulobezi due to the bad state of the road and as a result even the kind of buses that service the route are in bad condition,’ complained one Mulobezi resident.
Another resident complained that the constituency was neglected during the MMD time when Michael Mabenga was the Member of Parliament.
‘Honourable Mabenga failed us when he was our member of parliament yet he was from the ruling party and the moment we voted for the opposition, the PF petitioned the election,’ complained the resident.
The introduction of the ‘refurbished’ Mulobezi train has not helped improve the transport problem as the train only services Mulobezi twice in a week, the same situation is obtaining for the public buses which service the area only twice per week resulting in over loading
And the residents have wondered where the constituency development funds have been going in the close to three years that Mulobezi had no member of parliament after the PF petitioned the election of UPND’s Hastings Sililo.
They complained that the money that the government is dishing out to people in the area could have been used to construct roads and other developmental projects.
The Mulobezi by-election will take place on Tuesday 30th June 2015 alongside Malambo and Petauke.
