A trade analyst has challenge former works and supply minister Mike Mulongoti to explain why the then government in which he served as minister of works and supply chose to give a foreign company to operate Kasumbalesa border post.
Gilbert Nkamba says the move by the previous government to engage a privately owned foreign company to run the border posed a threat to the security of the country.
Mr. Nkamba notes that it was irresponsible for Mr. Mulongoti to have allowed the operations of Kasumbalesa to be left in the hands of a foreign company called Zambia Border Crossing Company limited to design build and operate Kasumbalesa border post in the name of public private partnership.
The trade consultant has further challenged Mr. Mulongoti to explain how transparent the bidding process was before the contract was given to Zambia Border Crossing Company.
Mr. Nkamba has since urged the people of Zambia to read the ZRA commission of inquiry report to understand the issues surrounding the alleged corrupt activities.
He has also commended government for appointing the commission of inquiry to investigate the alleged corrupt activities in the operations of ZRA.
