Mulongoti challenges Malupenga to state his achievements in media freedoms

Newly formed People’s Party (PP) president Mike Mulongoti has challenged Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga to clearly state what he has done to improve the freedom of the media in the country.

Speaking to Journalists at a media breakfast in Lusaka this morning, Mr. Mulongoti said the Information Permanent Secretary vigorously championed for a free media in the country prior to joining the Patriotic Front government.

He says it is therefore important for Mr. Malupenga to state his achievements in as far as media freedoms are concerned since becoming a technocrat in the Ministry of Information.

Mr. Mulongoti who is also former Information and Broadcasting Services Minister says he wants Mr. Malupenga to practice what he used to preach on media freedoms before taking up a job in government.

He says the Information Permanent Secretary is now in a better position to create a conducive environment for the media to operate in which gives him an opportunity to fulfill the media freedoms he dearly advocated for.

The PP leader has further stated that it will not augur well for Mr. Malupenga to turn against the things he championed before joining government
