Mulungushi university gets boss from correspondence school

The Board of Mulungushi University has appointed Hellicy Ng’ambi, who becomes its first female Vice Chancellor with effect from September 1st 2012.

Prior to her appointment, Professor Ng’ambi was the Executive Dean of the College of Economic and Management Sciences at the University of South Africa (UNISA) from 2009 to August 2012, a position held for the first time by a female.  

Mulungushi University Chairperson Costain Chilala announced in a statement to ZANIS in Lusaka today that Professor Ng’ambi holds a Doctorate in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

UNISA is a correspondence school where virtually everybody qualifies to study regardless of secondary school qualifications.

Mr. Chilala said Prof. Ngámbi was the first female to obtain such a qualification from this university.

He said she also has a master’s of Science in Management and Masters of Business Administration.

Prof. Ng’ambi is also a holder of a Bachelor of Arts Degree of Marketing Certificate, an International Teachers’ programme among others.

He disclosed that Prof. Ng’ambi also published 135 papers in several publications including scientific articles in accredited journals, books and business magazines.

And Mr. Chilala has added that Mulungushi University has also appointed Judith Ngalande Lungu as its Deputy Vice Chancellor.
