Mulungushi university workers sue management for pension fund abuse

Over 150 workers have sued the Mulungushi university pension board of trustees for abusing their contributions and are demanding that the court stops the trustees from transferring the pension to another fund manager.

The university, which has been using the workers’ contributions to pay top management gratuities wants to transfer the fund from ZSIC to Africa life assurance. The workers are demanding that they first be paid their contributions and then the university reverts to the old in house pension system.

Mulungushi university’s registrar Siachiti Gublah and his deputy Alphonsious Shinina appeared in the Kabwe high court on behalf of the university on Friday in a matter that was heard in chambers.

And sources from the management who are opposed to the secret transfer have disclosed that the university wants to transfer the pension fund because they have abused all the money that was contributed.

The matter was adjourned but the workers were granted the order to convene meetings which management was blocking them from holding.
