President Michael Sata says he is deeply saddened by the death of Angela Munkombwe the wife of Southern province Minister Daniel Munkombwe.
Sata’s message of condolences to the Munkombwe family was conveyed by Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba yesterday at the burial of Mrs Munkombwe, 71 who was put to rest at Mr Munkombwe’s Kabebya farm, a few kilometres from Choma town.
Mr Kabimba who also announced the elevation of Mr Munkombwe to the position of Provincial Patriotic Front (PF) Chairperson said the death of Mrs Munkombwe will create a vacuum in the minister’s social and political life.
He said government is aware that Mr Munkombwe is going through a difficult process of tribulation and sadness.
Mr Kabimba said it is for this reason that government stands ready to support Mr Munkombwe in every way possible for so that he is again able to discharge his duties effectively.
He has called upon all Zambians to unite across the political divide during such moments.
Mr Kabimba who represented government at the burial said Mr Munkombwe is one of the few outstanding leaders that this country has apart from Kenneth Kaunda and a few others.
Speaking earlier, Gender Minister Inonge Wina paid glowing tribute to the late Mrs Munkombwe for being a pillar in the Munkombwe family.
Ms Wina said the multitudes of people from all walks of life that attended the deceased’s burial is testimony that the late Mrs Munkombwe was a good woman who dedicated her life to the service of mankind.
