Famous musicians Brian Chilala and Edify Hamukale and two other leaders of the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) have been reported to police for suspected fraud.
The other two are ZAM secretary General Callen Chisha and Davis Ngoma, who like Chilala is a committee member of ZAM.
Hamukale is also the newly elected board chairperson of the Zambia Music Copyright Protection Society(ZAMCOPS)
The four are accused of stealing K36.9 million which was given by the Technical Committee Drafting the constitution to ZAM.
Police sources told the Watchdog that the four were by 10:30 local time on Tuesday being interviewed by the Anti-fraud squad at Lusaka Central police.
Some of the details gathered by the Watchdog indicate the Technical Committee contracted ZAM to compile some promotional songs and make CDs.
But the four, as signatories to bank accounts hid the details to other executive members and did the job privately.
The four are said to have only disclosed one assignment and less money to other board members.
Other members were only alerted when they saw withdrawals from the bank.
