VICE-President George Kunda was on Thursday challenged by Katombora UPND member of parliament Regina Musokotwane to explain why late home affairs deputy minister Misheck Bonshe died alone in Nigeria and why he was not evacuated to South Africa.
And home affairs minister Lameck Mangani said the government did not evacuate Bonshe at the same time with the late local government minister Benny Tetamashimba based on doctors’ analysis of his condition.
During debate on the motion moved by Vice-President Kunda which urged the House to record its deepest regret and sympathies over Bonshe’s death, Musokotwane said the challenge was a critical issue that the government needed to provide answers to.
Musokotwane said Bonshe, who was also Mufumbwe member of parliament, was a humble and simple person.
“Simple not because he was poor, but because he respected all of us here,” Musokotwane said. “For us in the opposition we have lost a gentleman. He was not arrogant. He was not sarcastic. We will miss him all of us.”
