Centre for elections and governance Board Trustee Gershom Musonda has backed calls for the removal of the immunity of Former President Rupiah Banda.
Musonda told 5fm that calls for the stripping Banda’s immunity are in public interest and must be heeded as he is not above the law.
He noted that there are laws and regulations that will guard the former head of state even when his immunity is lifted so that he is protected.
Meanwhile, Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) President Alex Ngoma has advised those calling for the removal of Banda’s immunity to ensure the rule of law prevails in the matter.
Ngoma also said there is need to establish whether or not the past pre4sident committed prosecutable offenses prior to the stripping of his immunity.
