The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has launched the Zambia Export Catalogue (ZEC) and ZDA Commercial Export Portal (CEP) to provide the business community with desired information on export.
Speaking during the official launch at a cock tail last night, Commerce Minister Felix Mutati said the Catalogue will act as a torch and give insight of what the country has to offer on the international market.
Mr Mutati said he will use the export catalogue when they travel to China next week to woe more Chinese investors to come and invest in Zambia.
Mr Mutati noted that the catalogue will be the pillar in the export business for Zambia as it presents information in clear terms.
He has since urged the business community in the country to also consider exporting their products to neighboring countries such as Angola and DR Congo where there are fewer restrictions as compared to Europe.
He disclosed that Zambia is in the process of signing a bilateral trade relationship with DR Congo which is second to South Africa in terms of business.
And ZDA Director Exports, Glyne Michelo said the Catalogue is made to be a reference for would-be investors, exporters and importers.
Mr Michelo observed that the catalogue will also act as an invitation to exporters, importers, administrators and anyone who has a bearing on export trade providing them with necessary information.
Meanwhile Market Access Trade and Enabling Policies (MATEP) Director Scott Simons hoped that the Export brochures and the Commercial Export Portal will be beneficial to Zambian exporters and buyers interested in purchasing Zambian products.
