Mwanakatwe, Nonde fight for Lusaka Central adoption
…..Mwanakatwe threatens to cross to UPND
Margaret Mwanakatwe and Labour Minister Joyce Nonde are in a bitter feud over their adoption for Lusaka Central Constituency in 2021.
Mwanakatwe has threatened to contest on the UPND ticket if not readopted. The deal was that Maggie gives way for Joyce in 2021 because Nonde did the same for Mwanakatwe in 2016.
PF sources tell the Watchdog that Joyce feels insecure being a nominated MP and fears President Edgar Lungu could get rid of her anytime and leave her in the cold.
She is determined to cement her political base by first securing Lusaka Central.
Nonde has been telling Cabinet colleagues that Mwanakatwe will be too frail to launch a formidable campaign due to excessive alcohol consumption and that she gave way in 2016.
On the other hand, Mwanakatwe with the influence of former President Rupiah Banda is not holding back….she wants her seat at all costs.
She has made it known that she will be forced to cross to the UPND should the PF decide to adopt Joyce.
“Nonde has been calling Mwanakatwe an alcoholic and not fit for office. She has already started mobilising her foot soldiers for Lusaka Central Constituency. This bitterness between the two is known by the President but he has done nothing. Watch the days unfold. There will be cracks in the PF ahead of 2021,” a PF source said recently.
But Mwanakatwe has taken a swipe at Nonde describing her as the worst Labour Minister in the history of the country and will go down fighting to preserve her seat.
