Mwansabombwe MP says Scott has power to appoint SG

rogersRODGERS Mwewa says acting President Dr Guy Scott has constitutional powers to appoint a secretary general of the party, and there was nothing wrong with Nickson Chilangwa accepting the appointment. And Mwewa has disclosed that some PF members of parliament from Luapula Province invited him to a caucus at Chita lodge to discredit Chilangwa for accepting the appointment. Mwewa, the Mwansabombwe PF member of parliament, said party members should respect decisions made by Dr Scott because he was a substantive party president. “I can’t condemn Chilangwa for accepting the appointment (as secretary general) because he was appointed by the party president in accordance with our party constitution. It should be on record that I refused to attend that caucus meeting last (Tuesday) night at Chita Lodge to condemn Chilangwa. I can’t be part of that, I only have time to mourn our great leader,” he said. “I am very content with my position as MP [member of parliament] for the good people of Mwansabombwe. I am not fighting for any position so why should I condemn Chilangwa? Why should people hold caucus meetings to fight appointments made by a person appointed by president Sata? I was phoned by one of them in that meeting to discredit Chilangwa and I refused.” Mwewa said Patriotic Front members should appreciate that Dr Scott had the constitutional powers to appoint a secretary general of the party and that he picked two people from one province for the position. Mwewa said people should not use him to create confusion and hatred in the party. – See more at:
