Mweene speaks ahead of Cup of nations

Goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene believes it is possible for Zambia to win the African Cup of Nations in Angola.

Chipolopolo have been drawn in a tough group alongside Cameroon, Gabon and Tunisia. However, the Free State Stars stopper is sure that the team can go all the way.

Mweene told Stars’ official website: “Every team that will be participating in the tournament has got only one goal, and that is to win the cup.

“I doubt if there is a team that is going there just for the fun of it and to add numbers.

“I must say the coach has selected the strongest squad possible, and yes it is possible for us to win the cup.”

On his selection for the national team, Mweene added: “It’s a great feeling indeed to be part of the squad that going to take place in the AFCON 2010.

“I must say it’s a great honour and privilege for me to be part of this African biggest soccer extravaganza, this is Africa’s own World Cup.[sic]”

Zambia start their AFCON campaign against Tunisia in Lubango on January 13.
