The opposition UPND has co-opted former deputy speaker of National Assembly Mutale Nalumango into the National Management Committee (NMC)
Highly placed sources revealed that the NMC meeting that met on Saturday appointed Ms. Nalumango as the party National Chairperson for the UPND.
Others co-opted in the NMC are former Mines Minister Maxwell Mwale who has been appointed party chairperson for mines and former Permanent Secretary Eularia Zulu as party chairperson in charge of Education.
“Yes we have co-opted these people into our party’s highest decision making organ in line with our constitution due to their immense experience in the politics and various fields. It is the first time our party is having so many women into decision making process and the first time a woman, Ms. Nalumango, is appointed National Party Chairperson,” sources have disclosed.
All the positions have been vacant for sometime now.
