National Restoration Party (NAREP) President Elias Chipimo has challenged political parties to abstain from political violence as the country prepares to go to the polls later this year.
Chipimo said political parties who want to participate in the elections must sign Memorandum of Understanding which clearly state their agenda and allow for thorough investigation when violence occurs.
He noted that the current trend of violent behavior leaves is demoralizing especially to the electorate as they wonder what will become of Zambia after elections.
The NAREP President appealed to citizens to be calm and maintain peace as Zambia is a Christian nation.
Meanwhile, Lusaka Police Commanding Officer, Mulukeni Zulu has cautioned cadres and citizens to carry out their campaigns peacefully so as to maintain law and order in the nation.
He added that the police force is working hard to ensure that there is unity and peace towards and during elections and anyone found wanting would be dealt with accordingly.
