Forum for Democracy and Development president Edith Nawakwi is reportedly meeting the PF secretly having meetings with PF under a deal brokered where she will be sponsored to win the forthcoming FDD convention.
This comes after Nawakwi’s realising that her chances of retaining her position have been getting slim and this will entail her supporting the PF from 2017 onwards and through to the elections in 2021, she will also be required to support President Edgar Lungu’s third term bid which is now being spread countrywide.
Lungu has agreed to fund Nawakwi and ensures that she wins like he did with mutate at the sham MMD convention in Kabwe last year in a bid to oust Nevers Mumba from the MMD. Nawakwi, if she retains her FDD presidency will join other PF funded opposition party leaders like Danny Pule, Edwin Sakala and Nason Msoni in parading themselves in support of Lungu.
Meanwhile an insider in the FDD has said that Nawakwi was greatly opposed to the idea of her spokesperson Antonio Mwanza’s decision to report PF Secretary general Davies Mwila to the police for inciting violence.
