Suspended Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito has protested the decision by the tribunal set up to investigate him to conduct its probe in darkness.
The Tribunal led by retired Judge Annel Silungwe has decided that the proceedings will be done ‘in camera’, meaning members of the public including journalists would be blocked. It will just be the judges, Nchito, lawyers and witnesses.
In a letter to tribunal chairperson Annel Silungwe, Nchito said he has so far being vilified and harangued in public so he must also be tried in public.
Nchito said there is huge public interest in the matter and so the matter should be open to the public.
