DPP Mutembo Nchito and his partner Fred M’emmbe have now started intimidating lawyers representing former president Rupiah Banda by giving them tramped up (fake) criminal charges.
Professor Patrick Mvunga is about to be charged with motor vehicle theft. By 15: 30 local time today (Tuesday), he was being interrogated by police.
He is being represented and accompanied by Sakwiba Sikota.
‘He is currently, I mean right now in room 13 of the Anti-Theft of Motor Vehicle at Lusaka Central Police Station under going to intensive interrogations. The interrogation started at 14:30HRS.,’ a police source told the watchdog.
Among those conducting the interrogations are two officers from the OP who have been sent by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito.
They are under the cover of senior police officers from Police Force HQ.
‘This is a well calculated scheme by Mutembo Nchito, Fred Mmembe, Wynter Kabimba to start prosecuting and intimidating the Lawyers representing former President Banda in the Nigerian Oil case, a source said.
‘Remember that the first one who received a call to do with motor vehicles theft was Sakwiba Sikota S.C. but because it was fabricated he was not intimidated.
‘Mutembo Nchito and Fred Mmembe are desperate now to do anything in the hope of weakening the defense team that is why he asked for adjournment to February next year,’ the source further explained.
‘Apparently last week Sata had a meeting and told Mutembo Nchito and Fred M’membe that he will stop the prosecution of Rupiah Banda because he believes there is no evidence.
‘In desperation Mutembo and Mmembe came up with the scheme of intimidating and weakening the defense team. Remember Mvunga is one of the lead lawyers and he is the most senior of the lawyers representing former President Rupiah Banda.
Professor Mvunga is the one who made Mutembo Nchito’s star witness the Nigerian cry in Court.
Mutembo has run out of witnesses the Osigwe Brothers appear to have refused to be misused by Mutembo Nchito and Fred Mmembe.
