Tanzania’s new president, John Pombe Magufuli has cancelled foreign trips for all his government officials, including ministers.
The president has ordered them to ‘familiarize themselves with villages’; saying embassies do the job of representing the country abroad.
Magufuli, the ruling CCM party candidate won the presidential elections with over 58 percent of votes in the country’s tightest election.
Prior to taking the oath, Magufuli warned corrupt public officials that they will lose their jobs under new government reforms if they don’t change their ways.
This action will not find a place on the PF and Zambian Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili’s list of ‘global’ issues worth emulating.
