NGOCC condemns PF for undressing woman

The Non Governmental Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has strongly condemned the violence and stripping naked of a woman by PF thugs during last Saturdays’ International Youth Day commemoration at the Freedom Statue.
NGOCC Publicity Secretary Patricia Mubanga said in a press release on Monday that the PF’s action was criminal and barbaric reminiscent in lawless societies.
‘The act by the ruling party cadres to undress the girl in public is not only criminal but barbaric and evil only reminiscent in lawless societies,’ Mubanga complained.
She said it was despicable that youths from the ruling party can conduct themselves in such a barbaric manner.
‘As an organisation we have been made aware of a video clip that is even circulating on social media depicting this very sad incidence with identifiable criminals,’ she lamented.
She has since demanded for the immediate arrest of all the culprits by the police but this is unlikely to happen because the PF controls the police and actually partners with them in brutalizing opposition party members.
Chakalashi said the undressing of the woman was the highest level of indignity ever shown to women in the country adding that there was no justification for such barbarism against fellow human beings.
She said Zambia was a democratic country where all citizens are free to belong to any political grouping of their choice without intimidation.
‘The behaviour of the cadres to undress an opposition member just because she is dressed in her party regalia is unconstitutional and we expect the leadership of the party to act against these cadres,’ said Mubanga.
The NGOCC has since demanded an apology from the PF and has warned that the organisation will not allow political parties to abuse and insult women in the manner the PF is behaving.
