….. Demands that PF stops being disrespectful, demeaning and insulting to women in its campaigns.

The Non-governmental Gender Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has added it’s voice to all those that have called upon the PF to accord women the respect and decency they deserve as mothers in a Christian nation.

NGOCC Board Chairperson Mary Mulenga says the culture of parading semi naked women, or women wearing revealing clothes to attract voters seems to have found ‘fertile soil’ in the political realm and NGOCC remains concerned with the continued bullying of women leaders by some politicians especially now that the country moves towards the 2021 general elections.

“We wish to reiterate that NGOCC has for a long time been deeply concerned with the low numbers of women in decision making positions especially at Parliament and Local Government levels. lt is totally unacceptable that 55 years after independence, women, who constitute more than 51 per cent of the country’s population remain discriminated from both participating and benefiting from the various development processes but are only used as sex objectives to attract votes,’ Ms Mulenga said in a press statement.

In the photos below (in red), PF Deputy National Mobilisation Chairperson Bizwell Mutale and the ruling party’s local leadership are using young women and men dressed as women to attract people of Pemba to attend a rally at at Pemba market grounds in Pemba district, Southern Province.

The other photo shows how disrespectfully PF branded bums on young girls in 2016 to attract voters.
