NHA workers no salaries for 8 months

Employees at the state owned real estate National Housing Authority have gone for 8 months without salaries despite rising enough money each month meeting the wage bill.

An investigation in the matter has revealed that senior management are paying themselves heft allowance such as Housing, fuel and weekend allowances.

Bwalya Makasa who is acting director real estate and a relative to NHA board Chairperson Francis Ndilila has formed 2 companies engaged as suppliers where half of the income generated is directed to.

Employees are however scared to voice out as they are being threatened with dismissals by the same acting real estate director Bwalya Makasa.

Employees have engaged Labour minister Joyce Nonde, and ZCTU president Chishimba Nkole and Zambia United Local Authorities Workers Union Misheck Nyambose but nothing tangible has come out.

Meanwhile some workers who spoke on the condition of unanimity are demanding, among other things, the dissolution of the board and removal of top management officials for allegedly “bringing problems” to the organization.
