Night club built above water pipe continues giving problems

The Chambeshi Water and Sewerage Company (CWSC) in Mpika of the Northern Province has restored water supply to Chitulika village after replacing a new underground water pipe at the Angel Night Club building.

Confirming in Mpika Saturday, authorities at the water utility company said the water supply which was interrupted last Saturday was restored late in the evening yesterday.

The water supply to Chitulika village was interrupted following the main underground water pipe burst inside the Angels Night Club building.

The building stands on the SWSC main service line that runs from Musakanya Kombe reserve tank to Chitulika village which has over 1,000 families.

To access the main water pipe, personnel from the water utility company had to break the concrete slab in the dancing room.

The sources attributed the constant underground water pipe burst at the night club to footfalls and music vibrations, disclosed that CWSC would only remove rubbles, while the owner of the club shall mend the floor at his own cost.

The local authority in the area had allocated the plot where the main water supply line passes to the proprietor of the night club some years ago.

It is the second time the water pipe has burst at the same point, the first one happened in 2006.
