Police beat up Nkrumah Students mourning colleague

Police last night tear-gassed students at Nkrumah university who were rioting following the death of their colleague.

The student named Prudence Ndulwa was bashed by a car just outside campus and died in hospital later. Students blamed the lack of speed bumps around the university for frequent accidents.

Last night students pitched a funeral and decided to show displeasure by putting fire on the road where the colleague was bashed from.

The Zambia police infamous for brutality and extrajudicial killings reacted with their usual force by beating up the students and firing tear gas cannisters and continued attacking students into their rooms. The police continued firing tear gas into the students’ rooms until after morning. img_2136
