MMD president Nevers Mumba has refuted reports that his party will go it alone in the Mpongwe parliamentary bye-election.
The Watchdog, quoting Zambia Reports published an article that the MMD will field a candidate on their own.
But Dr. Mumba told the Watchdog that he never said such a thing reported.
‘Our position is that, our team is on the ground in Mpongwe and will soon present their report to NEC through the party organs and we shall then make final determination on the issues of the candidate or alliance with any party,’ said Mumba.
The Zambian Watchdog hereby apologises to Dr. Mumba and the MMD and the said report has been withdrawn.
Meanwhile, the MMD leader will soon embark on a tour of the country. Dr. Mumba told the Watchdog by phone that the government has in the past few weeks managed to derail his programme but that he will soon go to Luapula and then other provinces.
