No private journalists during opening of parliament

The Zambian government has banned international and local, private journalists from covering the official opening of parliament by President Michael Sata.

And sources at parliament have disclosed that Sata will sneak into parliament using a small gate at the back of the National Assembly building.

Sata’s health or lack of it has been a subject of public speculation from the time he ascended to power. There had been fears that President Sata may not be able to withstand the long, procession that characterise the ceremonial opening of parliament.

Only journalists from ZNBC will be allowed inside parliament while other journalist will be restricted to a remote enclosure they call ‘media Center’.

Journalists will not be allowed to take any photos.

Details to follow.
