A serious system failure has been recorded by most commercial banks and financial institutions around the country resulting in most of them being unable to transact in the rebased currency.
A check in most bank ATMs showed that many people failed to access their money, except for those with Barclays bank.
However, Barclays bank ATMs are only recognising and issuing money for their customers only.
And sources have told the Watchdog that a serious system failure has also been registered with the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) resulting in people being unable to cross the country with goods.
All the borders such as Chirundu, Kanzungula and Nakonde are unable to clear goods leaving and entering the country due to system failure.
And some of the chain stores such as Shoprite Checkers failed to operate normally as they still had challenges dealing with the rebased currency that they needed to teach their staff.
