The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says people who are currently being registers as voters will not take part in the forth coming bye-elections in Luena and Chifubu.
And The United Independence Party (UNIP) has announced that it will compete in both Chifubu and Luena parliamentary bye-election.
UNIP vice-president Njekwa Anamela says his party is at the time considering the people who applied to stand on its ticket.
ECZ spokesperson Chris Akufuna has been quoted by ZNBC saying only voters who took part in the previous elections will be allowed to vote.
The ECZ is currently registering voters.
Akufuna said the potential voters being captured now will only be illegible to vote in 2011 when the voters’ roll has been compiled.
