President Rupiah Banda has described the North-Western Province as the new Copperbelt which should contribute to wealth and job creation in Zambia.
Mr. Banda says North-Western Province has huge potential not only in mining but in agriculture as well.
He says the Copperbelt has done its part to contribute to the development of the country and time has now come for North-Western Province to make its contribution.
The President was speaking in Solwezi when he commissioned the construction of the Zangamenu Bridge in Solwezi.
The president also flagged-off the rehabilitation of roads in the town.
Mr, Banda says the poor state of roads in Zambia is a source of concern to the government.
He has declared that his administration is determined to construct durable roads and bridges.
He also says the MMD government cannot stop implementing development projects simply because 2011 is an election year.
