President Edgar Lungu has now assigned disgraced former intelligence chief Xaviour Chungu to be monitoring the movements of opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Geoffrey Mwamba.
Soon after appointment on 10th June, Chungu’s team visited Luapula, Muchinga and Northern provinces to assess the damage that the recent visit by UPND has caused. While in Mansa Chungu met with some stooges planted in UPND. Later Chungu was accompanied by PF Luapula chairman Nixon Chilangwa, an official from provincial administration and a PF thug identified as Kapondo.
Lungu decided to bring in the disgraced ex convict Chungu because he doesn’t so much trust his own intelligence, but the move has angered senior intelligence officers also known as OP. He was with PF Luapula chairman Nixon Chilangwa.
“Colossal amounts are being used for this exercise against the order of OP. The vehicles they are using were bought using tax payers and by the way we already have sniffers in the OP, so why create another parallel?”, wondered a senior intelligence officer.
