After having initially blocked former Matero PF MP Miles Sampa from launching his DF party yesterday, President Edgar Lungu has now directed power utility Zesco to switch off power to the line supplying privately owned Muvi TV station. Senior Zesco staff have confirmed the President’s personal involvement in this.
The blackout which is outside the normal load shedding was effected some ten minutes before the highly publicised programme where it is expected that the UPND president will analyse PF’s close to five years in office and shed light on the plan that his party has. Muvi TV officials have however said that they will do everything possible for the programme to be screened live.
Yesterday PF sponsored party thugs armed with all sorts of weapons to disrupt Sampa’s launch which was scheduled for Moba hotel in Kitwe. The thugs followed Sampa to the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International airport in Ndola thereby posing a serious aviation security threat at the airport.
Like we earlier reported last year, Sampa later launched his Democratic Front Party later in the night in Riverside, Kitwe.
