Now Masebo accuses Sata of using Harrington

Former Tourism Minister Sylvia Masebo is reported to be telling people close to her that President Michael Sata has been encouraging former Communications Minister in the MMD government William Harrington to pursue Masebo for the misdeeds at the Zambia Wild Life Authority (ZAWA). A source close to Masebo has disclosed that had President sata been not against her, he could not have allowed Acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda to set up a tribunal against her.

“I think she is so confused. She did not expect to be fired. She has now been telling close associates that she believes (H.E) His Excellency is involved in encouraging Harrington to make sure she faces the law,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Masebo has also been telling people that President Michael Sata was supporting team GBM during the Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba and former Defence Minister Geofrey Bwalaya Mwamba (GBM) leadership wrangles in the Patriotic Front.

“Apart from linking the President to Harrington, she has also been telling people that President Sata supported GBM during the intra party wrangles. She says Kabimba actually resigned at one time but was only persuaded by Fred Mmembe to stay. She says that is why President Sata appointed Jean Kapata as a full Cabinet Minister,” the source said.

Masebo was dismissed in March,2014 for bringing the name of the President into contempt, hatred and ridicule when she testified at the tribunal set up to probe her that she had the blessings of President Sata before she dissolved the ZAWA board, fired senior managers and cancelled duly awarded hunting concessions.

Former Transport Minister in the MMD government William Harrington petitioned the Acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda to call for a tribunal. The tribunal found Masebo guilty of all the charges but ruled that Masebo did not take pecuniary advantage. Harrington has since indicated that he will file for judicial review.
