Patriotic Front (PF) cadres and are currently being supplied with Zambia police uniforms to help rig the Mangango by-election set for Tuesday, sources have disclosed.
These is in addition to refugees that have been given voters cards and instructions to vote for PF.
Under the command of PF top thug Judge Ngoma and campaign manager Obvious Mwaliteta, the cadres are being given specific instructions to intimidate voters at polling stations.
The cadres will have free-rolling access to polling centres where they will also be able to tamper with ballot boxes if the elections tilt towards opposition victory.
“These caders are been led by President Michael Sata’s personal thug Judge Ngoma and Mwaliteta.
“The PF cadres will be paraded as police officers when infact not. This move is meant to intimidate opposition political parties especially the UPND.
“The PF campaign team has been ordered to ensure they deliver Mangango to the PF and are currently under pressure,” the source said.
In order to further intimidate UPND supporters, the official police arrested one of the party’s chief campaigners in Mangango – Jonas Shakafuswa – on Sunday morning.
UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has since accused the Zambia Police Service of allegedly practicing selective justice after they arrested Katuba Member of Parliament Shakafuswa in Mangango.
The Police accuse Shakafuswa of causing violence in Namafulo Ward when he stopped UPND supporters from damaging the District Commission’s vehicle.
Hichilema says it is unacceptable that this is happening barely two days after the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), the Police and 31 political parties had a meeting and resolved that the Police should be fair in their dealings more especially during campaigns.
He says the police have continued not to be helpful to the opposition and they are highly favoring the ruling party.
Hichilema explains that Shakafuswa was attacked by the PF cadres and instead of the police arresting the cadres they ended up arresting an innocent man who never caused any harm to the PF cadres.
He has accused the police of trying to arrest all the UPND officials just like they did in Livingstone where they arrested seventy plus UPND supporters.
Hichilema says the PF is using the police to disturb the elections in Mangango because they know that they are going to lose the polls.
The UPND leader adds that the people of Zambia should refuse to be governed in such a way that they have no say over issues affecting them.
