After failing to deliver farming inputs to real farmers, ailing dictator Michael Sata is now telling prisoners to produce food so that prices of staple food can reduce.
The Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) have already declared this year’s farming season as a disaster due to government failure to give farmers fertilisers and seeds.
The price of millie meal, just look at the photo below taken last week in Kabwata.
But Sata, being disconnected from reality says Zambia Prisons Service (ZPS) and the Zambia National Service (ZNS) should triple maize and soya bean production to satisfy local demand and subsequently mitigate pricing and availability of the commodities.
This is according to a post by George Chellah on the Facebook page, which he uses to tell lies while pretending to be Sata.
‘K22 million has been allocated to the ZPS in this year’s budget to increase agricultural production by expanding the Chitumba farm to 5,000 hectares and recapitalize it with modern equipment by 2016,’ according to the statement.
Note that he is speaking ambiguously and says in the budget without stating clearly whether the money has been given to the prisoners or soldiers.
Sata said the milling plant which was commissioned last year, will not only mitigate the high cost of feeding inmates, but it will also provide cheaper and affordable mealie-meal to the general public.
If it was commissioned last year and is producing that number of bags every year, how come there is no cheaper mealie-meal?
“Breakfast and Roller meal are the main products of the milling plant while maize bran is the by-product. I sent my Minister of Finance Hon. Alexander Chikwanda to commission this plant late last year.
“During the 2013 – 2014, the ZNS managed to cultivate over 1,225 hectares of maize, soya beans and wheat. This concept by the ZNS and ZPS is brilliant and deserves commendation,” read the statement by George Chellah.
These are all lies.
