United Party for National Development (UPND) Gwembe Member of Parliament (MP) Brian Ntundu has charged that the opposition will boycott the constitution making process if the Patriotic Front (PF) does not consult the parties on the process.
Ntundu said there is need for government to consult widely so that the constitution is inclusive of divergent submissions and ideas so that it satisfies the Zambian people.
He stated that UPND will shun the constitution making process the same way PF refused to be part of the National Constitutional Conference (NCC) that was made for the purpose of coming up with a new constitution.
The MP said his party will only support policies that benefit Zambians and reject those that seem to favor certain individuals and not the people to whom they owe a service.
Ntundu further said it is vital for PF to involve the opposition and stakeholders in the constitution making process so that the whole nation moves in the same direction and not trade on dangerous ground like the former ruling party Movement Multi party Democracy (MMD).
