The Zambia Union of Nurses Organisation (ZUNO) has welcomed the re-alignment of government ministries and the de-linking of the Labour Ministry from the Ministry of Information saying that the move to have a stand-alone Labour Ministry was long over-due.
ZUNO Research and Information Officer Mabvuto Zulu has told Flava Fm News that labour is one of the largest government portfolios and deserved to be a focused entity that is solely dedicated to the plight of the workers.
Mr. Zulu thanks President Michael Sata for listening to the pleas of the labour unions that had earlier in the year opposed the merging of the Labour Ministry with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
He said this new development will see a lot of positive development in the way labour issues will be handled.
He appealed to the Minister Mr Fackson Shamenda to come up with better incentives to boost the morale of the workers.
Mr. Zulu said ZUNO, being a union and professional organisation for nurses and midwives in the country, will support any good policies by the Labour ministry but will not take kindly to any initiatives that would seek to disadvantage its members.
