Barely a month after an embarrassing travel fiasco which saw the Zambia national football team arrive in Cape Verde a few hours before kick off time, the team was once again delayed for more than 8 hours with no explanation from either FAZ or government.
The South African chartered plane which was booked to leave KK International airport at 08:00hrs yeatserday only landed at 15:00hrs and took off after 16:00hrs for the over six hours flight to Niger for a crucial Africa cup qualifier. Zambia is third placed with one point, as same as bottom placed Niger while Cape Verde leads the log with six points and followed by Mozambique with two points.
And when Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili went to the airport at 13:00hrs to try and address the players, he foud himself with no one to address as the players were nowhere to be seen, forcing the minister to leave after 30 minutes.
There has been no official explanation on the cause of the delay, the team is expected to have arrived in Niger late last night and will get to the pitch tommorrow in a must win match to keep the hope of playing in the 2015 Morrocco Afcon championships. The team is without dependable towering defender Stoppila Sunzu who has a family bereavement and is composed of mainly what analysts have called ‘tired old legs’.
