Vice President George Kunda says he is not in the position to tell the nation the elections date as he is not authorized to do so.
Kunda said announcement of polling date is the prerogative of the head of state, as such he does not know when elections will take place.
He however, assured Zambians and Parliamentarians that Parliament would be dissolved whenever President Rupiah Banda decides to do so and elections would take place later this year.
And Vice President George Kunda says President Rupiah Banda is well qualified under the constitution to contest in this year’s tripartite elections.
Kunda told parliament Thursday morning that President Banda and his parents are all Zambians by birth or decent.
He also says the president has served the country in many portfolios and has provided a legacy in his work.
Kunda was responding to a question from Luena Member of Parliament Charles Milupi on constitutional provisions for one to qualify to stand as republican president.
This was during the vice President’s question time.
