A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) called Beautiful Gates based in Kitwe on the Copperbelt has condemned first Republican President Kenneth Kaunda’s son Panji his remarks that the 2011 general elections would be the bloodiest.
Beautiful Gates Executive Director Bill Kapin’ga described Colonel Kaunda’s statement as careless and should be condemned by everyone.
Mr. Kapin’ga was reacting to a story in today Post newspapers where Colonel Kaunda was quoted as having said the 2011 general elections would be the bloodiest.
Speaking in a telephone interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr Kapin’ga said Colonel Kaunda should ensure that he reverses his statement and apologise to the nation.
He said issuing such statements could be very disturbing to the Zambian people who were anticipating peace during this year’s general elections.
Mr. Kapin’ga asked what kind of research Colonel Kaunda had done for him to say that this year’s tripartite elections would be the bloodiest.
In another development, Mr. Kapin’ga also advised politicians in the country to refrain from degrading the performance of President Rupiah Banda and his Government last year.
He observed that Government had implemented a number of developmental projects across the country.
Mr. Kapin’ga added that this was evident from schools, hospitals and roads among others that have been built in different parts of Zambia .
He noted that people should learn to appreciate what the Government under the leadership of President had done for the people so far
