Parliament demands ministerial statement on selective voter registration process

Deputy speaker of the National Assembly Mkondo Lungu has ordered home affairs minister Davis Mwila to issue a ministerial statement in view of the incompetent voter registration process in some parts of the country, especially those perceived to be opposition strongholds.

And Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people has demanded that the issuance of national registration cards exercise in some areas in his chiefdom be redone because the officers apparently ran out of materials during the exercise.

Mwila was ordered to issue a ministerial statement following a point of order that was raised by UPND parliamentarian Jack Mwiimbu who wanted to know why there was rampant shortage of materials in the issuance of national registration and voters cards especially in opposition strongholds.

And as a way of wanting to rig elections in some Bemba speaking constituencies where PF is fast losing popularity, government induced shortage of materials in the areas. Kasama central, Lukashya and Malole are some of the Northern province constituencies marred with irregularities.
