Head of state Michael Sata is expected to open the fifth session of the National Assembly today and address Members of Parliament (MP) for the first time since being elected to the office of president.
Sata is expected to give a keynote address on economic and development policies.
Some of the issues citizens are eager to see debated include the enactment of a new constitution which was thrown out in the last national assembly, and the presentation of the 2012 national budget by Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda.
Meanwhile, President Sata has advised his cabinet to work hard and address the social and economic challenges in the country as the time to celebrate victory in the September 20 elections is over.
The President further said there is need to improve the lives of each and every Zambian as all citizens are entitled to a better life.
