PF begins secret search for 2016 Parliamentary candidates

The PF faction of Edgar Lungu and Rupiah  has started short-listing parliamentary candidates for the 2016 general election, the provisional list so far excludes some current PF MPs who have been replaced with candidates loyal to President Edgar Lungu and former President Rupiah Banda. Some district commissioners and permanent secretaries are also being considered for adoption.

The secret scheme code named survival 2016 or S2016 is being coordinated by a committee which comprises some people loyal to Lungu and Rupiah Banda but very few Sata loyalists are aware of the scheme.

Former Solwezi MP Lucky Mulusa and State house aide Kaizer Zulu are some of the members in the committee. Others are Education minister Michael Kaingu and former works and supply minister Kapembwa Simbao who have been tasked to coordinate Western and Northern provinces respectively.

A source says that Simbao has been incorporated to bring on board the Namwanga – Mambwe voting block in view of a protest vote from the Bemba region who seem not to agree with Lungu’s management of PF.

The secret scheme also says that there is a loose alliance between Rupiah and Lungu where Rupiah will nominate one third of the candidates and a similar portion of cabinet ministers while in return he will ensure that Lungu wins the 2016 election which is expected to be very hotly contested.
