PF blacks out Kanyama to ‘disrupt’ UPND rally

The outgoing PF government ordered Zesco to cut off power in Kanyama outside the normal load shedding period in an attempt to disrupt the UPND rally that was held at Twashuka ground on Tuesday afternoon.
Power was disconnected very early in the morning and by 17 hours it had not yet been restored but the UPND rally went on smoothly using a power generator.
And speaking at the rally, UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema promised to empower small Zambian businesses by giving them loans and government contracts.
He said welders, carpenters and tailors will be given contracts to make door and window frames and benches for all government schools and clinics while tailors will be empowered through contracts to make uniforms for nurses adding that uniforms for defence forces will no longer be made from China.
Hichilema also promised to improve civil servants conditions of service and ensure that salaries are paid on time and stressed that allowances payable to civil servants will be restored.
Meanwhile the UPND leader has promised that his government will construct a hospital in Kanyama and work on the drainages in the area and provide clean drinking water.
He said cholera was a yearly occurrence like a traditional ceremony due to poor sanitation and wondered why President Lungu says there was nothing for the UPND to come and fix yet people were facing load shedding and lack of clean water.
