Unruly PF thugs calling themselves ‘injomba’ and claiming to have been sent by President Edgar Lungu and PF Secretary General Davies Chama to be collecting bus and taxi levies in various towns this morning went on rampage beating and harassing taxi and bus drivers in Kabwe.

Soon after Lungu’s election in January this year, the cadres seized Kasanda bus station claiming that they were told to take over bus stations as payment returns for having campaigned for PF and causing violence to opposition during Lungu’s campaigns.

They earlier promised to cooperate with the bus drivers and only get a small share but now sensing that Lungu’s popularity is going down and that he may lose the elections next year, they have completely seized the station and when drivers resisted they beat them up. They are demanding K60 for each bus load and Central province police commissioner Lombe Kamukoshi feared to comment on the matter. One taxi driver has been severely injured and is receiving treatment at kabwe general hospital.

On Monday, the same group attacked UPND supporters at the Shoprite taxi rank after the opposition aligned taxi drivers hoisted a UPND Chitenge in retaliation to the many PF fitenge materials the same group has dotted around Kabwe Central business district. The UPND youths in the district have however vowed not to be intimidated and say they will launch a wide flagging next week and are ready to meet the PF cadres head on.
