PF cadres burn houses for UPND Mpongwe candidate, as residents demand for voters cards

PF cadres last night set ablaze the houses belonging to UPND candidate for Mpongwe by-election Mr. Rapson Chilufya.

The houses were set ablaze and property worth worths of Kwacha was completely destroyed.

The police are however reluctant to take action against the people who burnt Mr. Chilufya’s home despite reporting yet the same police were quick to implicate and arrest the UPND leaders, including its leader Hakainde Hichilema, for the violence that led to the death of the PF cadre who was transported to the area.

Meanwhile, there is confusion in Mpongwe as residents have stormed the police station demanding that they are given back their voters cards.

The residents allege that PF candidate Gabriel Namulambe has been collecting voters cards from people.

Reports reaching the Watchdog reveal that the residents have since implemented a citizen arrest on Ms. Sara Chanda one of Namulambe’s agents.

A police source has confirmed the reports saying police have to raise a search warrant in order to search Namulambe’s house.

MMD President Nevers Mumba’s Private Secretary Raphael Nakachinda has also confirmed the reports saying police are playing delaying tactics by saying they have to go to Luanshya to have a warrant signed by a Magistrate to search Namulambe’s property.

Yes there are people who have camped at Mpongwe police saying they want there voters cards.
