Patriotic Front cadres led by PF losing Monze Central parliamentary candidate Giver Nsanzya, on Friday stormed Monze District Commissioner Joyce Nondo’s office and demanded that she leaves office immediately, as the reign of terror intensifies.
And Gwembe District Commissioner Raymond Nampindi has handed over the keys to his office for fear of working under the leadership of Sata.
Nampindi handed over the keys to Gwembe Police officer In-charge and left the district to unknown destination.
The PF cadres who were led by Nsanzya wearing the MMD chitenge material, mockingly wept while carrying a coffin labeled giving Rupiah Banda and the MMD last respect.
The female cadres wept while men carried the mock coffin wrapped in the MMD chitenge material along the Livingstone-Monze road to the District Commissioners’ office.
Nondo was at the time of the mock funeral procession out of office.
When the cadres reached her office demanded for the keys and to have her office locked up until a new district commissioner is appointed by new ruler Michael Sata.
“The cadres together with Nsanzya demanded to see DC Joyce Nondo and the closure of the office until a new DC is appointed,” said one of the messengers.
“Your time is over can you get out of the office, bring the keys we want to run government the way our President Mr. Michael Sata wants,” said Nsanzya.
District Commissioners are government workers assigned to spearhead developmental projects within the district of assignment.
Sata was part of the government under the late Frederick Chiluba’s regime who introduced the office of district administrator by then and later changed to DC under later Levy Mwanawasa and directly report to provincial permanent secretary.
Some UPND cadres also joined in demanding for the removal of Nondo from the office of the district commissioner.
And during the mock funeral procession which was part of the celebrations over Sata’s victory against MMD’s Rupiah Banda, PF cadres in one of the vehicle they were using hit a school going boy.
The boy who is currently admitted to Monze Mission Hospital sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the theatre.
