The Patriotic Font in North-western province are appealing to President Michael Sata to revoke Ikelenge MMD Member of Parliament, Elijah Muchima’s appointment as deputy minister for allegedly not working with the government of the day.
In a petition co-signed by PF Provincial Youth Chairperson, Grephan Kakumbi and Provincial Youth Publicity Secretary, Jackson Kungo, the petitioners are alleging that Mr Muchima recently directed two
councillors from Ikelenge not to defect from MMD and join PF because him had not done so.
They accuse him of instructing the councilors against defecting, saying the PF had no future and credibility.
They further accused him of constantly boosting that PF “we shall just eat with them but never to join them”.
In receiving the petition, Provincial Minister, Stephen Masumba urged the members to jealously guard the party from people who want to assault the party.
Mr Masumba said the PF has come to stay even longer that the MMD which he described as a buried party with a lot of confusions.
He said he was not equally impressed with the combatant manner Mr Muchima responded him yesterday when he was trying to reason with him over the two councilors who came to his office to be received following their intension to resign.
Mr Masumba disclosed that actually about 20 councillors in the province have so far defected to the PF and advised all those people who feel like joining the PF to do so because the boat is still not full.
The placards carrying petitioners presented their petition to the minister at his office today who assured to present it to the Republican President.
Some of the placards read as “ Abash Muchima No nonsense in PF NWP”, “Muchima does not appreciate”, “Muchima is a traitor”, “We shall work with genuine people not Muchima”, “North-Western PF reject Muchima” and “Your Excellence revoke Muchima’s appointment”.
Mr Muchima could not be reached by press time as his phone went unanswered.
